Hearing set for man charged in 2020 murder case

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A hearing has been set for a Raleigh County man charged in a 2020 murder case.

At 7:15 on Christmas Morning of 2020, deputies with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at Blackhawk Lane.

Deven Michael Pratt of Cool Ridge – 24 at the time of the incident – was charged in the shooting of Trey Barker, who was transported by EMS to Raleigh General Hospital for emergency care, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A plea hearing for Pratt was originally scheduled for the morning of Thursday, June 9, 2022, but has since been rescheduled for Thursday, June 26, 2022.

The case is being tried by Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney Ben Hatfield.
