RAVENSWOOD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Jackson County man has been charged following an incident in which a Ravenswood Police Officer sustained injuries as a result of a high-speed vehicle pursuit enacted by the suspect.
According to Chief Lance B. Morrison of the Ravenswood Police Department, at approximately 5:43pm on Saturday, March 23, 2024, Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to arrest Dalton Good, who was wanted on felony circuit court capias warrants.
The suspect is stated to have accrued a lengthy history of criminal activity, which includes hitting two State Troopers head on in a pursuit. Good fled from the deputy attempting to conduct the arrest on Saturday, initiating a pursuit which started on Crooked Run Road and continued to Flatwoods Road.
Ravenswood Police Officers received requests for assistance in the situation, starting on Flatwoods Road and being run off the road by the suspect.
Continuing to flee on Flatwoods Road in the direction of Route 2, Good’s front tire was deflated by stop sticks which had been placed in the roadway by law enforcement.
Good continued to flee into Ravenswood at a high rate of speed in spite of the impacted front tire, and Sheriff’s Deputies were eventually able to bring the pursuit to a close near the Ravenswood post office.
One Ravenswood officer was involved in an accident over the course of the accident. The officer is reported to have been treated for minor injuries and released from medical care following the pursuit.
Dalton Good faces charges from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office of Fleeing with Reckless Indifference Causing Bodily Injury, other charges are possible. Good later stated to Sheriff’s Deputies that “he didn’t care to die”.
