BREAKS, VA (LOOTPRESS) – A recent grant from the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority (VCEDA) will fund up to $100,000 in development and infrastructure improvements for Breaks Interstate Park.
Among the improvements to be funded through the VCEDA grant are renovations for the park’s potable water tanks, expansion of the park gift shop, repairs/replacements to the gutters and roof the chief ranger’s residence, amphitheater improvements, repairs to the maintenance shop, and miscellaneous equipment purchases and additions.
“VCEDA is pleased to continue to support Breaks Interstate Park projects through the civil penalties fund,” said Jonathan Belcher, Executive Director/General Counsel for the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority. “Each of the improvements planned in this round of funding serve to enhance visitor experiences at the park.”
Breaks Park Superintendent, Austin Bradley made note of the significant assistance provided through the grant program.
“The Breaks Interstate Park Commission is grateful for VCEDA’s ongoing support through the civil penalties grant program. These funds have made a tremendous difference in our ability to update the park over the years to better meet the expectations of our guests,” said Bradley. “These particular projects will help ensure that visitors will continue to have access to clean drinking water and will significantly expand the retail space at the Chafin Lodge Gift Shop. Utilization of the park’s amphitheater has also expanded over the course of the last several years due to our partnership with Artist’s Collaborative Theater and this grant will help upgrade this facility.”
