CHARLESTON, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Charleston announced Friday afternoon that the 17th season of Live on the Levee at Haddad Riverfront Park will begin on Friday, July 19, 2021.
The free concert series will continue for 13 weeks, concluding on October 1. Each concert will take place on Fridays at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s lineup includes an array of musical styles, including rhythm and blues, country, rock and heavy metal.
Headliners for the 2021 Live on the Levee season include The Kentucky Headhunters, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., Second Helping: The American Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Show and Byzantine.
Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin joined with the event’s organizers on Friday to announce the news to residents of Charleston.
“The City of Charleston is excited for the return of Live on the Levee after the cancelation of last year’s season,” said Mayor Goodwin. “We will showcase great local and regional talent, local food and retail vendors. Thank you to all of the folks that help support Live on the Levee.”
The event isn’t just a fun time; it is also a fundraiser through the sale of 50/50 raffle tickets. The inner-city charities that Live on the Levee will help this year include Roark Sullivan Lifeway Center, YWCA’s Sojourners Shelter, Covenant House, the Religious Coalition for Community Renewals’ Samaritan Inn and Manna Meal.
In the past, Live on Levee has raised more than $100,000 through the raffle. The city keeps half of whatever is raised, and the winner receives the other, usually donating it back to the charities.
Sponsors for Live on the Levee include Moses Auto Group, Brewer & Company, RCAC, Lou Wendell Marine Sales, Suddenlink by Altice, West Virginia Lottery, Capital Beverage Company, Mountain State Beverage, Amherst Madison, Spriggs Distribution, City National Bank, BridgeValley Community & Technical College, West Virginia 811, Terradon, N3, University of Charleston, Caldwell Insurance Agency, Country Roads Pet Resort, ServPro, Bowles Rice, Highmark, Ticketmaster, Mi Cocina De Amor, Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation, ZMM Architects & Engineers, Pikewood Media Group/West Virginia Radio Corporation, Bristol Broadcasting Company, LM Communications, C&H Taxi, Four Points by Sheridan, WOWK, WCHS, WSAZ, Jim Strawn & Company.
