BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 26-year-old mother has been charged with gross child neglect following the death of her 3-year-old daughter, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
Deputies responded to Berkeley Medical Center on Sunday, Nov. 24, at approximately 4:35 a.m., after receiving a report of a deceased child.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigative Division were assigned to the case, with Cpl. Dopson and Deputy Weidman leading the investigation.
Based on evidence gathered, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Jessica Davidson of Martinsburg.
She was charged with “Gross Child Neglect Creating Substantial Risk of Death.” Davidson was arraigned by a Berkeley County Magistrate and remanded to the Eastern Regional Jail on a $10,000 property/surety bond.
Additionally, Davidson faces a separate charge of domestic battery from another incident, carrying a $1,500 property/surety bond.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have indicated that additional charges may be filed.
