HANCOCK, MI (LOOTPRESS) โ A suspect has been identified after running over an 80-year-old man with an ATV who was placing a Trump sign in his yard.
According to the Hancock, Michigan Police Department (HPD), on Sunday, July 21, 2024, the HPD responded to three politically motivated incidents, including two cases of vehicle vandalism.
At around 5:45 PM on Anthony Street, an individual driving an ATV drove into a yard and struck an 80-year-old man who was putting up a political sign.
The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition.
The suspect appears to be involved in all three incidents, targeting supporters of both former President Trump and law enforcement.
On July 23, the police department thanked the community, local police, and the media for their assistance.
The ATV driver was identified last night, but the suspectโs name will not be released as the investigation is ongoing.
The Hancock City Police Department had received a message from an individual at that address who had stated that they wanted to โconfess a crime involving an ATV driver within the last 24 hoursโ, and further to โsend someone to pick me up.โ
Officers and Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered a 22-year-old male suspect on the scene.
The male individual was found deceased with a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The ATV used in the crime was found at the scene.
