LINCOLN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A suspect is shot dead after stabbing a WV State Trooper, causing multiple lacerations and stab wounds.
On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Trooper R. S. Clagg, Senior Trooper T. C. Hurley, and Senior Trooper T. A. Chaffin initiated a traffic stop on 10 Mile Road in the Ranger area of Lincoln County, West Virginia. The accused, Harman Davis, a 46-year-old white male of 4484 McClellan Highway Branchland, West Virginia, fled on foot into a wooded area. Senior Trooper Hurley located the accused, and a struggle ensued. The accused produced a knife and stabbed Senior Trooper Hurley, causing multiple stab wounds and lacerations.
Trooper Clagg, upon witnessing Senior Trooper Hurley being stabbed, discharged his firearm, striking the accused. The accused succumbed to his wounds.
Senior Trooper Hurley was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV, by Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services.
Upon arrival, Senior Trooper Hurley was taken into surgery, which was successful. Senior Trooper Hurley is currently in stable condition.
This investigation is continuing by the West Virginia State Police.
