RANDOLPH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested for DUI following a vehicle crash.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at approximately 3:43 PM, Corporal S.D. Kyle with the RCSO responded to a single-vehicle accident in the Valley Bend area.
Emergency dispatch had indicated that the driver might be under the influence.
Upon arrival, Cpl. Kyle found Darin Roy, the driver, who was transported to Davis Medical Center for treatment.
An empty beer case was discovered in the vehicle.
Roy repeatedly claimed someone else had been driving, but changed the supposed driver’s identity multiple times, causing emergency personnel to search for a non-existent second occupant.
Witnesses and further investigation confirmed Roy was the sole occupant.
911 records revealed that Roy’s driver’s license had been revoked for a DUI conviction dated January 12, 2024.
The accident occurred when his vehicle veered 300 feet off the road, through a yard, and struck a tree, according to police.
A witness reported that Roy’s vehicle was speeding prior to the crash and saw him exit the driver’s seat alone.
A search warrant obtained on May 22, 2024, revealed Roy’s blood alcohol content was .202 at 5:03 PM on the day of the accident.
A warrant was issued on May 23, 2024, and Roy was arrested and transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
He faces charges of DUI 2nd Offense, Driving Revoked for DUI, Failure to Maintain Control, and Obstructing an Officer.
