HAMLIN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two parents have been arrested after their two-year-old daughter and three-year-old son were found in a pond, the two-year-old has died.
According to the West Virginia State Police, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at approximately 9:30 PM, Hamlin State Police units responded to Scary Creek Road in Hamlin for a possible drowning call dispatched through Lincoln 911.
The investigation revealed a two-year-old female and a three-year-old male were located in a pond at a nearby residence.
Both victims were transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital where the two-year-old female was pronounced deceased.
The three-year-old male is in stable condition but is still receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
The father identified as 30-year-old Jack Parsons Jr. and the mother identified as 24-year-old Tara Adkins were taken into custody and charged with Child Neglect Resulting in Death and Child Neglect Creating Risk of Injury.
Both accused are housed at the Western Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
The status of this investigation remains active and ongoing.
