CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Charleston Police Department expanded its ranks this week as three brand new officers were sworn in during a ceremony at City Hall on Monday.
City of Charleson Mayor, Amy Shuler Goodwin, along with Charleston Police of Police Scott Dempsey, were on hand for Monday’s ceremony, which will proceed officer training which set to begin on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
Upon successful completion of the initial stages of training with the Charleston Police Department’s Training Division, these new recruits will begin training at the West Virginia State Police Academy on August 12, 2024.
The newly sworn in officers will receive fifteen weeks of law enforcement training through the academy before completing over 850 academic hours to be followed by a twenty-week Field Training Program.
During the program the officers will see direct supervision, training, and observation by police department leadership.
