MINGO COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A West Virginia elementary school canceled classes on Tuesday following a threat.
The Mingo County School Board of Education (MCBOE) announced today that Burch P-K-8 School canceled classes and sent students home following a potential threat.
The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department and the board of education are currently investigating the situation.
According to the MCBOE, the threat at Burch P-K-8 appears to be connected to a similar incident reported in Mercer County yesterday, as well as the precautionary lockdown in all Mingo County schools on Monday.
The Fusion Center, a department of Homeland Security, is involved in analyzing the threats to determine their origin.
Authorities have stated that the threats do not appear to be credible.
The district urges students, staff, and the community to report any threat information immediately.
