FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Beginning on October 4, 2024, Fayette County Schools will implement a new policy requiring all students in the 8th grade and below to be accompanied by an adult when attending athletic events.
According to Fayette County Schools Superintendent Gary Hough, the adult must be at least 19 years of age. Students will be given wristbands to indicate that they are under the supervision of an adult.
While attending the events, students will be allowed to sit with friends and visit the restroom or concession stand without the accompanying adult.
However, they will not be permitted to play ball or gather in unsupervised areas during the event.
These changes have been introduced to enhance supervision and ensure safety at all athletic events.
