ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – It has been announced that the Concord Nursing Program has been granted national accreditation status by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education Board of Commissioners.
The board determined at its meeting that the Concord Nursing Program currently meets all four standards for accreditation with no concerns reported with regard to compliance with key elements.
The accreditation action is effective as of January 31, 2024, and has been granted by the board using the CCNE Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs.
As a result of the accreditation, BSN graduates from Concord University will be able to continue their studies at any graduate program throughout the country.
Concord University President, Dr. Kendra Boggess congratulated those involved in the significant achievement.
“I want to extend my deepest congratulations to our incredible nursing faculty and team members for their outstanding work in development Concord University’s inaugural nursing program, which has just received its accreditation,” said Dr. Boggess. “This is a huge achievement for the institution and a testament to our faculty and staff’s dedication and expertise. The efforts we have made have paved the way for Concord to make a lasting impact on our local community, region, and state, while providing our amazing students with the opportunity to excel in a critical field. With this accreditation in place through 2029, we are poised to continue building a program that will shape the future of healthcare.”
Dr. Michele Holt, director of the Concord Nursing Program, commended the work of the nursing department and university.

This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the nursing department and the university as a whole,” she said. “We couldn’t have done this without the support of our nursing students, colleagues and administration. This is a great time for Concord University Nursing; we are proud of our nursing program and the opportunities this designation provides to all of our nursing students!”
