YAWKEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A tragic accident on Thursday, October 17, claimed the life of a Kentucky man working along WV State Route 214 in Yawkey, Lincoln County.
According to authorities, Trooper R. S. Clagg responded to the scene following reports of a fatal crash. Preliminary findings indicate that Venancio Motta Santos, 44, of Shelbyville, KY, was employed as a flagger for a tree company and was standing at the edge of the right side of the roadway.
The incident occurred when Jimmy Wilburn, 47, of Sumerco, WV, driving a black Chevrolet Silverado, failed to stop in time and struck Motta Santos. The victim was transported to CAMC General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
