MARTINSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A federal jury has convicted a Martinsburg man on charges of fentanyl and cocaine possession, U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld announced.
Desmond Lamont Davis, 33, was found guilty on three counts related to possessing 40 grams or more of fentanyl and 28 grams or more of cocaine.
According to trial evidence, Davis had been distributing drugs in Berkeley County. Law enforcement officers, acting on several outstanding warrants, observed him leaving a residence in Kearneysville.
After a brief pursuit, Davis was apprehended, and officers recovered 72 grams of fentanyl, 131 grams of cocaine, and 42 grams of cocaine base, along with thousands of dollars in cash and drug paraphernalia.
Davis has prior convictions for drug charges and malicious assault.

Davis faces a minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison on two of the counts, and up to 20 years for the third count.
Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge, who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.
