BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Community members lined the streets of Downtown Beckley on Monday to observed the 2024 Veterans Day Parade, which paid tribute to those who sacrificed through service to their country.
Many local organizations and institutions showed their support by participating in the proceedings, exhibiting their patriotism and support for service members by way of signs and decorations which adorned passing vehicles.
Among the many organizations to participate were New River Community & Technical College, Beckley Police Department, Mabscott Volunteer Fire Department, and of course, the Raleigh County Veterans and First Responders Museum.
Several local schools were represented, including Woodrow Wilson High School, whose 2024 Championship Soccer team made an appearance atop a Beckley Fire Department fire engine. Marching band ensembles representing Park Shady Spring were also among those who partook.
Frank Henderson served as Grand Marshal for the 2024 Veterans Day Parade, which adhered to this year’s theme of “Duty – Honor – Country,”as selected by the American Legion Post 32.
