HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Man destroys elderly grandparents’ home, throws young child across the room, and physically assaults girlfriend.
On November 5, 2024, local authorities were called to 104 Maple Street in Hinton after reports of property destruction and alleged abuse by Donny Cook Jr. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness, who stated Cook had caused significant damage to her grandparents’ home, where he resides. The grandparents are elderly and cannot defend themselves. She reported that Cook had torn down basement ceiling tiles, damaged the furnace, and broken a water heater, which was now leaking. The estimated repair costs were approximately $1,500.
The witness further alleged that Cook had displayed aggressive behavior toward other residents in the home, including his live-in girlfriend. The victim recounted an incident from November 1, where she claimed Cook threw her young son across a room during an argument and later struck her in the face after she confronted him. The victim reportedly left with her children until November 3, when Cook allegedly returned, damaging the property further.
Records indicate Cook has a history of domestic battery convictions dating back to 2011, with his most recent conviction occurring in April 2022. The investigation into these latest allegations is ongoing.
