PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Roy Charles Whittaker, a 37-year-old resident of Princeton, has been sentenced to 1-3 years in prison for failing to render aid involving serious bodily injury, according to Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Brian K. Cochran. Whittaker was sentenced on Wednesday by Judge William Sadler, who imposed the maximum sentence allowed for the charge.
Whittaker was initially arrested by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department in October 2023. He was later indicted by the Mercer County Grand Jury in June 2024 and pleaded guilty to the charge on September 24, 2024.
In a statement, Prosecuting Attorney Cochran thanked the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department for its thorough investigation, which led to Whittaker’s arrest and conviction. Cochran also commended Assistant Prosecutor Josh Lawson for his work on the case, ensuring justice was served in the prosecution of Whittaker.
