MILL CREEK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A student was reportedly taken into custody on Thursday following the discovery that the student had brought a firearm with them to school.
According to Superintendent of Schools for Randolph County, Dr. Shawn Dilly, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, Randolph County Schools received information that an as of yet unidentified student had brought a firearm to school with them.
Upon learning of the situation, faculty and staff members are said to have worked closely alongside law enforcement officials and the student was promptly taken into custody during the evening.
Details with respect to the situation are limited given the nature of the incident and the possible underage status of the individual involved. Superintendent Dilly did indicate in a statement, however, that students came forward to authorities to assist in the addressing of the matter.
“We are deeply grateful to the students who came forward and to everyone who acted swiftly to protect the safety of our school-community,” said Dr. Dilly with regard to the situation. “Ensuring the well-being of our students and staff is our top priority, and we will continue to work diligently to maintain a safe learning environment. Thank you for your continued support and vigilance.”
