MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic disturbance involving a knife led to the arrest of a man in Fayette County on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Authorities responded to a call at approximately 1:20 a.m. reporting the situation at a residence on Colorado Street in Mount Hope.
Deputies Shreve and Burgess of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they observed a shattered vehicle rear window, apparently caused by a mailbox, and found a distraught woman crying on the porch.
The victim provided a written statement recounting the incident. According to her, the suspect, Anthony Jameson, refused to leave the house when asked, threatening to punch her in the face while holding a knife. The victim said Jameson declared he would kill her before eventually leaving.
Before departing, Jameson allegedly caused extensive damage to the property, including throwing a mailbox through a car window. The victim stated, “He destroyed my house and the outside.” She also mentioned that Jameson discarded the knife outside as he left.
While en route to the residence, Deputy Burgess spotted an individual matching the suspect’s description riding a bicycle away from the area. Upon stopping and identifying the man as Anthony Jameson, Burgess found two knives in his possession, though neither matched the description provided by the victim.
Despite efforts to locate the discarded knife near the residence, it was not found. Jameson was detained at the scene while deputies completed their investigation.
Deputy Shreve later instructed Burgess to arrest Jameson, who was transported to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for processing and arraignment before a county magistrate. The victim was also advised on how to obtain a protective order against Jameson.
Jameson faces charges stemming from the domestic incident, including property destruction and threats of violence.
