After a short hiatus the Lootpress Player of the Week Award, sponsored by Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the boys and girls basketball season.
Below are the candidates for the first week of the boys basketball season. Voting will close Monday at midnight. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie.
- Eli Allen, James Monroe – Allen was stellar in the Narrows Tournament, scoring 29 and 20 points on back to back days to help the Mavs to a 2-0 start. He also had his first in-game dunk and averaged 7.5 rebounds and eight assists per game.
- Shad Sauvage, James Monroe – Sauvage was just as stellar as his teammate. He scored 18 and 33 on back to back days in the Narrows Tournament, averaging 4.5 steals per game.
- Jacob Perdue, Oak Hill – Perdue helped Oak Hill to a 1-1 start, averaging 17.5 points per game.
- Jaedan Holstein, Shady Spring – Holstein averaged 12 points per game this past week for the defending Class AAA champions but was a menace on the boards. He scored 14 points to go along with 12 rebounds in a win over Wyoming East. He also recorded seven offensive rebounds in each game for 14 total on the week.
