OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A father is in jail after an alleged reported gun threat on one of his children turned into a rape confession.
According to court documents, Oak Hill Police was notified by Child Protective Services regarding William Bennett of Thurmond, WV, who had pulled a firearm on one of his daughters. One of the children said that her sister was playing with a toy nerf gun and was trying to shoot her in the complaint, so she told her father. The father, William Bennett, said, hold on and let us see how she likes it if she gets shot. Bennett then proceeded into his bedroom and then came out with that one daughter describes as a real gun. The daughter got scared and left home but later returned. One of the children also told police that her mother would lock her and her baby sister in a room. The baby sister died, and the other two children were placed in CPS custody.
In a twist and turn of events, Mr. Bennett had posted photographic on Facebook of his privates while he was holding a small child. One of the daughters told a school counselor that her father had sent her a photograph of his privates and a female believed to be her cousin. Mr. Bennett told his daughter that this was a photograph of him rapping her cousin.
On July 1, 2020, officers were able to speak to the cousin involved in the pictures. The cousin told officers that the incidents occurred approximately ten years ago at Pineknoll Apartments in Oak Hill. The cousin said Bennett would do things to her while she was asleep, and she would wake up to messages on her phone with pictures of her face with stuff on it and everything nasty that you could think of doing to someone while they were asleep. The cousin stated that she never gave Bennet consent to do these things. He would send her and her two cousins pictures of what he did. The cousin told police that what she understood was Bennett had done this to his ex-wife’s friend that would stay the night. The cousins alleged that a female, who now lives out of state, was walked home by Bennett and raped by him. According to police, he was never charged with a crime involving the rape incident. According to the cousin, he would perform the acts standing over top of her while asleep and then message her its pictures. He would collect hones and take photographs on them and use photographs from Facebook to collage with these pictures and put their body parts on them. Bennett’s daughter told her cousin that to this day, the things her father sent her pictures of still haunt her.
When the cousin confronted Bennett about the incidents, and he seemed to enjoy getting caught.
All of the events occurred at Bennett’s home.
Bennett is charged with two counts of child neglect creating the risk of serious injury or death. He is in Southern Regional Jail under a 10,000 dollar bond.
