CHARLESTON, W.Va. (LOOTPRESS) – For 15 days this June, the City of Charleston will turn into a work of art for the 18th annual FestivALL event.
FestivALL, a nonprofit organization, began in Charleston in 2004 when several citizens met with then-Mayor Danny Jones to ask about creating a comprehensive arts and entertainment festival. Mayor Jones then spoke with Mountain Stage producer/host Larry Groce who suggested a combination of originally produced events with productions already being mounted by local arts groups. From there, FestivALL was born.
Every year, the event partners with more than 90 arts and community organizations, as well as hundreds of local, regional, national and international artists. Together, they create more than 130 events and 360 performances, many of which are free or low cost and designed with a little bit of something for everyone.
According to event organizers, more than 13,000 people visited the city during last fall’s festival.
FestivALL will return to Charleston with live music, art, theatre, dance and family fun June 12 through June 26, 2022. This year’s highlighted activities include a carriage trail walk, various performances by the Charleston Light Opera Guild, a large art fair along Capitol Street, a children’s art fair, a Wine and Jazz Music Festival and more.
While a full schedule will be announced in April, those hoping to learn more about the event can head over to the FestivALL Facebook page to see some of their just announced events or visit festivallcharleston.com/events.
