Cast your vote for the Week 2 Player of the Week

The Lootpress Player of the Week Award, sponsored by Mid-State Ford, InShapeWV, Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the second year.

Below are the candidates for the second week of the prep football season. Voting will close Monday at midnight. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.

In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.

Below are the candidates for the Week 2 Award.

Dominick Collins, Princeton – Collins hauled in nine passes for 178 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-7 win at Bluefield Friday night. For good measure, the electric playmaker also picked off a pass that halted a 52-yard Bluefield drive.
Darmonte Mitchell, Beckley – Mitchell had a performance that will forever live in Beckley-East lore. Mitchell turned 19 carries into 276 yards and five touchdowns as the Flying Eagles beat their rivals 49-21 to improve to 2-0.
Ty Nickell, Greenbrier West – It was business as usual for the all-state senior as he compiled 166 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 carries as the Cavaliers soundly beat Summers County 26-0.
Trey Bowers, Independence – Bowers was 10-of-19 passing with two touchdowns, throwing for 257 yards in a win over Class AAA Oak Hill. For good measure he added 58 yards and another score on eight carries in the 40-0 victory.
Kaleb Clark, Nicholas County – Clark didn’t cross the 100-yard plateau a week ago, so he doubled up for good measure. The all-state running back picked up 220 yards on 25 carries, rushing for three touchdowns in a 42-16 win over Shady Spring.
Seaton Mullins, Meadow Bridge – Mullins helped the Wildcats pick up their first win of the season Friday, rushing 17 times for 75 yard and two touchdowns to go along with four completions for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Layton Dowdy, James Monroe – Dowdy went 4-of-8 passing for 61 yards, tossing the only touchdown of the Mavericks’ 6-0 win over Pendleton County Friday. He also carried the ball 10 times for 45 yards and intercepted a pass on defense.
Cody Harrell, Midland Trail – Harrell hauled in six passes for 142 yards and a touchdown in Midland Trail’s 42-3 win over Tolsia Friday.
