SHADY SPRING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Shady Spring boys basketball program received a donation Wednesday from the Beckley Board of Realtors for their contributions in making a November fundraiser for the Humane Society of Raleigh County a success.
The fundraiser, the proceeds of which will go toward benefiting the Humane Society of Raleigh County’s objective of establishing the Delaney Wykle Animal Wellness Center, as well as the Raleigh County School Backpack Program, and Realtor Relief Fund, entailed a Bingo Night event which took place last month.
Speaking with LOOTPRESS, David Chinn of the Beckley Board of Realtors explains that the board had reached out to Shady Springs Head Coach Ronnie Olsen about some players potentially helping out for the event.
”We had asked Ronnie Olsen if the Shady basketball boys would come and help, and they did,” says Chinn.
“We had a very successful fundraiser, so we presented them with a check for their good deeds of helping us out without really expecting anything.”
Though the team members were brought in as runners for the event initially, the boys were self-starters and took on a number of tasks from various odd-jobs to ticket sales.
“It’d have been hard for us to pull it off without them,” Chinn continues.
“We didn’t realize how much help they would be. They worked it.”
The Tigers team were undoubtedly deserving of the monetary donation, which will go toward the school’s basketball program.
