BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One Raleigh County woman has started a GoFundMe to help raise funds for a new K9 Memorial to be placed at the new Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office in Beckley.
Logan Bare, whose husband has worked at the Sheriff’s Office for 31 years, says she started this fundraiser after she noticed something important was missing at the new building.
“Our Raleigh County K9 unit plays a salient part in our community,” Bare said. “They work endless hours, whether it’s to help catch criminals, bust the local drug dealer, or search for your family members when they go missing.”
Bare believes that a memorial for the Raleigh County K9s past and present is the right thing to do.
“I have grown to love each and every one of the K9s our local department has. I have seen how hard these K9s work and I think a memorial in their honor, is the least they deserve,” Bare said. “They are part of the department just like the men and women who protect and serve our county,” she explained.
The new memorial would be placed in front of the newly built Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office building.
The current goal for the memorial is $6,000 and individuals may donate via GoFundMe or by writing a check to the Raleigh County Deputy Sheriff’s Association (RCDSA). Checks can be dropped off at the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.
If the fundraiser exceeds the goal of $6,000, Bare says the remainder of the funds raised will be set aside by the Raleigh County Deputy Sheriff’s Association and used on the K9s when needed.
The funds will be used to help pay for new equipment, vet bills, or anything else they may need, the money raised through this fundraiser will be strictly used on the K9s at the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.
