CHARLESTON, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – Following the defeat of the Hoover Huskies, the Shady Spring Tigers Varsity Boys Basketball Team has taken home the quarterfinals win and are one step closer to playing in the 2021 WVSSAC Boys Basketball State Championship – Class AAA Tournament. The Tigers won 87-45.
This is now the first state tournament the Tigers have entered since 1994, and the first semi-finals they’ve taken part in in the school’s history.
The Huskies were at a severe disadvantage, due to having only two of their regular starters playing in this morning’s game.
Shady, however, had a phenomenal game, getting close to several record breaks in the Class AAA tournament’s history. One of these near records was for the team’s guard Todd Duncan, who was one steal away from beating the number one record of nine steals in a single game.
The Tigers will be playing the Winfield Generals this Saturday, May 7, at 11:15 a.m. at the Charleston Coliseum. Winfield defeated Fairmont in their own quarterfinal game 49-45.
