ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wednesday afternoon vehicle accident has resulted in the death of one motorist, according to authorities.
Sheriff Rob Elbon of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office reports that, on Wednesday, April 19th 2023 about 2:24pm, authorities were called to service for a two-vehicle head-on traffic accident on Route 33 East of Elkins near Bear Hunter Estates.
Upon arrival at scene, Sheriff Elbon reports observing a Ford SUV in the eastbound lane as well as a 2016 Subaru Outback headed west in the westbound lane.
Severe damage to both vehicles could be k severed, and statements from witnesses at the scene indicated the Ford SUV had traveled left of center and struck the Subaru Outback head-on.
The driver of the Subaru was transported to Davis Medical Center by Randolph County EMS, while the driver of the Ford SUV was pronounced dead at the scene and was also transported to Davis Medical Center by Randolph County EMS.
Assistance was also provided at the scene by Randolph County Deputies, Elkins Fire Department and Randolph County EMS.
This accident remains under investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
