Coal City – Michael McKinney drove in four runs as Independence defeated PikeView 18-2 in five innings Tuesday night in Coal City.
McKinney wasn’t the only Patriot scorching with runners in scoring position.
Clay Basham, Caleb Daniels and Andrew Lester each drove in three runs for Indy in the win. Lester also contributed on the mound, pitching a complete game, striking out seven and allowing just one earned run.
Independence will travel to Bluefield today for a 6 p.m. start.

Nicholas County 10, Liberty 6
Glen Daniel – Nicholas County outpaced Liberty Tuesday night, picking up a 10-6 win in Glen Daniel.
After Nicholas took a 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the first, Liberty roared back with four runs in the bottom of the frame. The Raiders held the lead until the third when the Grizzlies scored two more to take the lead for good.
Junior Caden Gray drove in two runs for Liberty in the loss.

Shady Spring 25, Greenbrier West 3
Shady Spring – Evan Belcher pitched a complete game, striking out six as Shady Spring beat Greenbrier West 25-3 Tuesday night in five innings.
Belcher was hot at the plate, notching four of Shady’s 22 hits and driving in four. Colten Tate had the exact same stat line for Shady, going 4-for-5 and driving in four runs.
Thatcher Poteat was also stellar, going 4-for-5 while being the third Shady batter to drive in four runs.
Shady improves to 15-7 and will travel to Beckley on Thursday. Greenbrier West drops to 8-7 and will travel to Midland Trail on Thursday.

Greenbrier East 9, Beckley 8
Fairlea – Trailing 8-7 in the bottom of the seventh, Greenbrier East rallied to beat Beckley 9-8 Tuesday evening in Fairlea.
The winning run scored when Beckley tried to pick Zach Trump off at third base. An overthrow allowed Trump to bolt for home and score. At the plate Tanner Skidmore led East with two hits, driving in tow runs. Jordan Mize also drove in two runs for the Spartans.
Beckley drops to 7-16 while Greenbrier East closes the regular season at 16-4. The Spartans will play Princeton on Tuesday in the sectional tournament.
