UPDATE: Authorities have detained the individual believed to have been behind the apparent theft of a Mingo County Christmas tree.
According to the Mingo County Sheriff’s Office, as of Tuesday, December 12, 2023, Marquita Gannon-Fleming has been located and arrested on charges of Petit Larceny and Conspiracy.
The arrest, facilitated by Cpl. Williams and Deputy May, was made in relation to a Christmas tree which went missing from the Dingess area of Mingo County on Sunday.
The Mingo County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday that warrants had been obtained for Gannon-Fleming’s arrest in connection with the incident.

DINGESS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – It would appear that The Grinch isn’t the only one making off with unscrupulously obtained holiday decor this year, as law enforcement officials are actively seeking the perpetrator behind an apparent stolen Christmas tree in the Mingo County area.
According to the Mingo County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, a Christmas tree was stolen between the hours of 4:30pm and 6:00pm in the Dingess area near the tunnel.
On Monday, December 11, 2023, the Mingo County Sheriff’s Office would again make a public inquiry, this time seeking assistance in locating a female being sought for active warrants. Marquita Gannon/Fleming reportedly has active warrants for Petit Larceny as well as Conspiracy.
As part of the identifying information released in relation to this suspect, along with a close-up photo of the suspect, was what appears to be a still from surveillance footage featuring a burgundy, 4-door Pontiac sedan with a Christmas tree strapped to the top of the vehicle.
