Shady Spring 14, Westside 4 (5 innings)
Shady Spring – Mason Palmateer homered and Shady erupted for nine runs in the first inning, beating Westside 14-4 in four innings Wednesday in Shady Spring.
Thatcher Poteat, Tyler Mackey, Alex Johnston, Josh Lovell and Evan Belcher all collected multiple hits for the Tigers in the win. Poteat led the charge, driving in three runs.
Kenny Spencer led Westside with two hits, driving in a run.
Shady improves to 16-7 and will host Beckley today. Westside drops to 10-13 and will host Van today to close out the regular season.

Hico – Nicholas County squeaked out a road win at Midland Trail, beating the Patriots 6-2 in eight innings Wednesday.
The game was tied 2-2 heading into the extra framed, but a four-run outburst from the Grizzlies proved more than enough to secure the win.
For Trail Cy Persinger allowed two runs, striking out 10 in the process. Cody Harrell also homered for the Patriots in the loss. Trail drops to 14-5 and will travel to Greenbrier West on Thursday.
