CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Beckley man and woman have been sentenced to federal prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Michael Dwayne Kelly II, 35, received a sentence of four years and 10 months, followed by three years of supervised release.
Savannah Elizabeth Todd, 32, was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison, also followed by three years of supervised release.
According to court records, Kelly sold approximately 6.9 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant for $700 at a Beckley residence on January 27, 2022.
He later admitted to selling an additional 28 grams of fentanyl to the informant for $500 on February 10, 2022.
Todd was involved in a similar drug transaction, selling 3.5 grams of fentanyl for $550 to a confidential informant on February 8, 2022.
Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at the residence on February 17, 2022, where they found Kelly and Todd along with a significant quantity of drugs and firearms.
Officers seized 189 grams of fentanyl, 56 grams of cocaine, and 27 grams of heroin, as well as four handguns and $13,046 in cash.
Both Kelly and Todd admitted they intended to distribute the drugs in the Southern District of West Virginia.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit, which includes officers from the West Virginia State Police, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, and the Beckley Police Department.
Chief U.S. District Judge Frank W. Volk imposed the sentences, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian D. Parsons prosecuted the case.
