BELINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic incident which occurred last month has led to charges against a Belington man.
According to Barbour County Magistrate Court documents, on November 10, 2024, Cpl. G. Kennedy of the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office responded to 12 Grandview Avenue in relation to a reported altercation involving destruction of property in progress.
Upon arrival at the scene, the male caller met with law enforcement and described a situation involving his daughter and her significant other, identified as Brandon Reel of Belington. The caller explained that Reel had placed hands on his daughter and had also busted out the rear window of his daughter’s vehicle and put a dent in the hood.
The defendant is said to have departed the scene on foot prior to the arrival of law enforcement. The responding officer attempted to locate the defendant to no avail. Returning to the scene, the officer obtained a statement from the victim involved in the incident.
The victim stated that the defendant had been walking toward her vehicle, so she stopped, at which point the defendant entered through the passenger-side door. When attempting to exit the vehicle, the victim was grabbed by the defendant. This exchange led to bruising which was documented by law enforcement.
The Belington man is then said to have begun smashing the back window of the car with rocks. At some point, both the victim and the defendant re-enter the vehicle and proceed to the residence of the victim’s father, at which time emergency services are contacted, and the defendant flees the scene. The victim had reportedly been in a relationship with the defendant for just under one year.
While processing the scene, a small baggie containing a substance consistent with methamphetamine was discovered by law enforcement. Metal and glass smoking devices consistent with both marijuana and methamphetamine consumption were also discovered at the scene.
Based on the findings of the investigation, Brandon Reel faces charges of Domestic Battery, Destruction of Property, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
