MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Morgantown has announced that a petition submitted to bring the recent camping ban ordinance to a public vote has been deemed insufficient.
The city clerk confirmed that the petition lacked the required number of valid signatures, which must represent at least 10 percent of the total qualified voters registered during the most recent city election, according to the city.
Despite this setback, the city says it remains open to further collaboration with the petitioners as they continue to navigate the referendum process.
The city says it is following the rules outlined in the Morgantown municipal charter to ensure transparency and fairness.
