BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Members of the Beckley community made their way out to Word Park on Friday for the latest Friday in the Park event featuring the Country Roads Band.
Also featured as part of the event were a number of on-site vendors, including the Patriot Food Wagon which served burgers and hotdogs, and the Department of Human Services and Raleigh County Family Support Center, who provided free lemonade to guests in attendance.
The Country Roads Band set up at the Word Park gazebo and guided audience members through brass ensemble versions of timeless hits, including a medley of classic Beach Boys numbers.
The group didn’t disappoint with their closing number, an ode to the band’s own name and the Mountain State itself, the 1971 John Denver classic, “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
Friday in the Park is held each Friday at Beckley’s Word Park on Neville Street from 11:30am to 1:00pm. The event series runs each year from June to August. Additional information on Friday in the Park and other upcoming events in the Beckley area can be found at the Beckley Events website.
