RANDOLPH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A driver was rescued following a single-vehicle accident on Cheat Mountain along U.S. Route 250 south of Huttonsville early on the morning of December 2, 2024.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, emergency dispatch received a report at approximately 7:59 a.m. about the incident.
Investigators determined that the vehicle had been traveling north on U.S. 250 when the driver lost control while navigating a turn on a slick roadway.
The vehicle veered off the road to the left, striking a guardrail before flipping over and rolling down a ravine. It ultimately came to rest upside down.
The driver, unfamiliar with the area and unable to call for help due to a lack of cellular service, remained with the vehicle overnight. By morning, they managed to climb up to the roadway and summon assistance.
The Huttonsville Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Randolph County EMS responded to the scene to provide aid.
