BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) โ A Boone County man was arrested Sunday after allegedly firing multiple gunshots inside his home during a domestic dispute with his son, authorities said.
At approximately 12:56 p.m. on March 9, 2025, Boone County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Hewett Creek Road. Dispatchers reported that a firearm had been discharged inside the residence during the altercation.
Incident and Arrest
Deputies R.B. Dotson and A.C. Shelton arrived at the scene around 1:14 p.m. and made contact with the caller, who confirmed that the dispute involved Gregory Ferrell and his adult son.
Upon speaking with Ferrell, deputies noted he was intoxicated. Ferrell admitted that he fired a handgun into the floor during an argument, explaining that he was frustrated with his son for not helping with household chores.
The victim confirmed that the dispute began over work around the house. According to his statement:
- Ferrell retrieved a silver revolver from his bedroom.
- He brandished the firearm while yelling at his son.
- After the son challenged him, Ferrell fired multiple rounds into the floor near him.
- Ferrell did not point the gun directly at him.
The victim, who has a history of substance abuse, said his father gets angry when he stays in bed too long. He also directed deputies to the firearm, which was seized as evidence.
Investigation and Evidence
Deputies inspected the firearm and found five spent cartridges inside. They also observed and photographed multiple bullet holes in the wooden floor where the victim said the shots were fired.
Based on their observations, Ferrellโs admissions, and the victimโs statement, deputies took Ferrell into custody.
