BOOMER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is in jail after attempting to stab his brother and hit him in the head with a hammer.
According to court documents, Nathan Byars accused his brother of taking his money and told him he would have to kill him. The brother denied taken anything from him. Byars then put a knife into Nolan’s stomach but didn’t puncture it. Byars then struck his brother in the head with a hammer, causing the brother to fall to the floor. The victim was able to get up and go to the neighbor’s home.
Deputies observed a laceration to the suspect’s throat; the brother told deputies that Byars was suicidal and had cut his own throat. He later had to be treated at the hospital for treatment. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment, too. Deputies observed blood throughout the living room and on numerous pieces of furniture.
Byars is charged with malicious wounding. He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 10,000 cash-only bond.
