JUMPING BRANCH, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A small fire at Jumping Branch Elementary School was swiftly extinguished Thursday afternoon, thanks to the quick response of local firefighters and school staff.
According to the Jumping Branch-Nimitz Volunteer Fire Department (JBNVFD), crews were dispatched to the school around 3:40 p.m. alongside firefighters from Summers County Volunteer Fire Department (SCVFD) and Ghent Volunteer Fire Department.
Some JBNVFD units were returning from an earlier structure fire when the call came in, allowing them to respond within minutes.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that school staff had used fire extinguishers to contain the flames.
Crews fully extinguished the fire using a water extinguisher, limiting damage to a minimal level.
Fire officials credited the school’s quick actions and strong teamwork among departments for preventing a more serious incident.
