UPSHUR COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office seized 37 firearms, a state-owned West Virginia road sign, and an illegally killed bobcat during a search warrant executed on December 20 at a residence on 236 Marjorie Ann Drive.
The search stemmed from a traffic stop earlier that day, which led to the arrest of Randy Edward Carpenter. Carpenter was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine.
Following his arrest, Carpenter was transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail, where authorities allege he attempted to smuggle suspected methamphetamine into the facility using body packing.
Deputy Collins is leading the investigation. The bobcat was turned over to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) for further investigation.
Authorities remind the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
