TAZEWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Southwest Virginia Community College is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For® program. This is the second year that Southwest has been recognized on the Great Colleges to Work For list.
The results, released in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 194 colleges and universities. In all, 72 of those institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies.
Results are reported for small, medium, and large institutions, with Southwest Virginia Community College included among the small colleges.
Southwest Virginia Community College won honors in 5 categories this year:
- Job Satisfaction & Support
- Faculty Experience
- Compensation & Benefits
- Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging
- Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness
“We are proud to once again be recognized as one of the Great Colleges to Work For in the nation. This honor is a testament to the dedication and passion of our faculty, staff, and administrators, who continue to make Southwest Virginia Community College an outstanding place to work and learn. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to excellence in higher education and the importance of our collaborative and inclusive community,” said Dr. Tommy Wright, President of Southwest Virginia Community College.
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captures employment data and workplace policies from each institution and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback.
