BELLINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Friday morning vehicle accident involving a freightliner dump truck remains under investigation following authority response.
According to Sheriff Rob Elbon of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 10:47am, Sheriff Elbon responded to what is being called a “severe crash” involving two vehicles at the Bellington exit of US 33/48 at the US 250 intersect.
Upon arrival at the scene, Sheriff Elbon reports observing a 2021 Chevrolet Equinox which had rear ended at 2016 Freightliner dump truck which had been stopped at a traffic light.
No evidence was observed indicating that the driver of the Equinox had made any attempt to stop their vehicle before striking the stopped dump truck.
The drivers of both vehicles were transported by Randolph County EMS to Davis Medical Center to receive treatment. The condition of the drivers is unclear at the time of writing, though no fatalities have been reported as a result of the incident.
Assistance on the scene was provided by Coalton and Elkins Fire Departments and WV PSC Captain E. George. Deputy Seth Davis and Deputy Lantz Elbon are also reported to have provided assistance on the scene.
