HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Huntington Fire Prevention Parade will return to downtown Huntington on Monday. As such, it would behoove motorists and pedestrians alike throughout the area to prepare for potential adjustments to regular traffic patterns in the city.
The annual event will be held on Monday, October 10th at 7:00pm, with participants lining up at 5:45pm between 12th Street and Hal Greer Boulevard.
4th Avenue between 7th Street and Hal Greer boulevard will be closed to accommodate for the parade between the hours of 5:00pm and 10:00pm. Parking throughout this area will also be prohibited during the hours of 5:00pm to 10:00pm, and there will be signage posted in the area the day of the parade to indicate such.
Beginning at 12th Street and 4th Avenue at 7:00pm Monday, the parade will proceed west on 4th Avenue to 8th Street.
2022’s parade theme seeks to drive home the importance of an established and practiced plan of escape in the event of a household fire. As such, the theme for this year’s parade has been declared to be “Fire Won’t Wait, Plan Your Escape.
Due to safety concerns, participants in this year’s parade will not be permitted to toss candy to parade-goers along the street. There will be a representative for each participating parade display, however, who will walk along the sides of the street to hand out candy to children in attendance.
Those interested in becoming a parade participant may contact Carolyn Wright at (304) 696-5950, or complete a registration form here.
Forms may be emailed to firemarshal@huntingtonwv.gov or dropped off at the Huntington Fire Department Centennial Station 1 at 839 7th Ave during regular business hours.
