James Monroe 72, Meadow Bridge 24
Lindside – It took 21 years but the Lady Mavericks are heading back to Charleston.
James Monroe blitzed Meadow Bridge from the start and never let up, toppling the Wildcats 72-24 in the Class A Region co-final Tuesday in Lindside.
James Monroe has earned the No. 5 seed in the eight-team field and will play Huntington St. Joe Wednesday, March 9 at 9 p.m. in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The last time the Lady Mavericks made the state tournament was in 2003 when they had their state championship streak snapped in a 41-40 loss to Sissonville.
Maggie Boroski and Mya Dunlap led the scoring charge for the Mavericks with 20 and 21 points, respectively, in the victory. They were just two of 11 different players to score for James Monroe in the victory.
Charity Richard led Meadow Bridge with nine points in the loss.
