Charleston – The junior duo of Alexis Bordas and Lala Woods put on a record-breaking performance Friday morning in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center, guiding Wheeling Park to a 63-56 win over Huntington in the Class AAAA quarterfinals
Bordas broke the Class AAAA single-game scoring record with 38 points on 13 of 23 shooting while Woods dished 11 assists to top the old mark of nine.
The game appeared in hand late for the Patriots who led by 16 with three minutes to play but a late comeback charge by Huntington allowed the Highlanders to get within six points with over a minute to play.
Park was then able to close the game at the free throw line, returning to the Class AAAA championship game for the second year in a row.
Amara Jackson and Jada Turner led the Highlanders with 19 points each in the loss.
