CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Patrick Morrisey has announced his support for President Donald J. Trump’s Administration in taking federal action on immigration enforcement.
“We will take all appropriate steps to protect our citizens and work with the Trump Administration to crack down on illegal immigration,” Morrisey said.
The governor has directed state agencies to actively coordinate with federal authorities to enforce immigration laws.
This includes efforts by the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation, which is currently detaining suspected illegal immigrant criminals as directed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
As of Jan. 27 at 3:30 p.m., state correctional facilities are holding 53 individuals while their immigration status is being determined.
