FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man from Hilltop is facing felony charges in Fayette County. Sheriff Mike Fridley has shared details about the case.
In August 2022, detectives from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department were alerted by the OHHS Resource Officer about a report of sexual abuse made by a student.
The detectives launched an extensive investigation that revealed multiple disclosures from siblings within the same family, all against the same neighbor. The alleged incidents reportedly occurred more than ten years ago.
David P. Humphrey Sr., 69, of Hilltop, is charged with four counts of Sexual Abuse by Parent, Guardian, or Person of Trust and four counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.
Fridley emphasized, “This highlights the importance of having Prevention Resource Officers in schools. Our officer developed trust with the students, enabling them to share this information. I am pleased that the student can see that their complaint was taken seriously and that action has been initiated against the accused.”
Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department at 304-574-3590 or Crime Stoppers of West Virginia at 304-255-STOP.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Detective’s Bureau continues to investigate this matter.
