ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man faces destruction of property charges following an incident at an Elkins hotel on Sunday.
According to reports from Sheriff Elbon of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, a Destruction of Property complaint was dispatched by 911 at approximately 10:30pm on Sunday, 7/17/22.
The caller, an employee of the Iron Road Inn, stated that an individual had come to the front desk claiming to have broken the window of a hotel room.
The individual had not been a guest at the hotel, and suffered an injury to his hand upon attempting to break the window.
Sheriff Elbon, along with Corporal Kyle, Deputy Pingley, and Deputy Elbon responded to the complaint, and located the man at the front of the hotel.
The man, who was bleeding from his hand, was identified as Marty Price. Price disclosed to authorities that he was homeless, and was attempting to break the window to get out of the rain.
In his attempt, he had punched and cracked the window, which resulted in his injuries. Emergency Medical Services were brought in to respond.
Sheriff Elbon was escorted to Room 121, the site of the damage, where photos of the cracked window were taken.
The business informed authorities that they wished to press charges, and upon being checked out by EMS, Mr. Price was arrested and transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
A cost estimate for the window will purportedly be provided at a later date.
Mr. Price faces charges for misdemeanor Destruction of Property.
