HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Huntington Fire Department has announced details with regard to its upcoming 2024 Fire Prevention Parade.
Scheduled for 7:00pm on Monday, October 7, 2024, the annual event will reportedly feature colorful floats, marching, bands, and multiple fire apparatuses in an astounding display of community spirit and safety awareness.
The procession is set to kick off at 12th Street on 4th Avenue before proceeding west through downtown Huntington. The event will be no cost and will be open to members of the community.
Schools, families, and local organizations have been encouraged to participate and display their fire safety support. Those interested in participating in the parade event are encouraged to reach out to the Huntington Fire Prevention Bureau at (304) 696-5960 or by registering online.
Featured as part of the parade will be floats created by local community organizations, schools, and businesses. Each float will pertain to the 2024 Fire Prevention Parade’s chosen Fire Prevention Week theme.
Local high school students will also participate by way of marching band performers who will bring their skills to the proceedings, which will also highlight what is being called, “the largest and most diverse gathering of fire trucks, ambulances and law enforcement vehicles in the Tri-State.”
It has also been announced by Mayor Steve Williams and the City of Huntington Fire Department that the Grand Marshal for the 2024 Fire Prevention Parade will be Roy Grimmett, Disaster Program Manager with the American Red Cross.
“Roy Grimmett goes above and beyond to make Huntington a safe and compassionate city,” said Mayor Steve Williams of Grimmett. “We are honored that he has agreed to serve as Grand Marshal of the Fire Prevention Parade this year.
Grimmett began his service with the American Red Cross in 2017 as a volunteer during his time in Washington, D.C. He would join the Red Cross staff in 2019 for its Tri-State Chapter and would come to reside in the Huntington area.
