CABELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Cabell County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after deputies discovered an infant’s remains and a damaged casket at Baylous Cemetery on Thursday night.
According to Sheriff Doug Adams, deputies were dispatched to the cemetery around 7:20 p.m. after receiving a report of a corpse and a broken casket.
Upon arrival, authorities found a casket over an embankment and, approximately 30 yards away, the remains of an infant male.
During the initial investigation, deputies did not find any disturbed gravesites in the cemetery.
Authorities are now working to determine the identity of the infant and how the remains ended up at the scene.
